WHEREAS, the week of May 11, 2008 has been designated National Nursing Home Week by the American Health Care Association; and

WHEREAS, we recognize the important sacrifices America’s heroes who reside in nursing homes have made to our great State and Country; and

WHEREAS, we recognize the importance of our obligation to care for these heroes and their families in their time of need; and

WHEREAS, State Veterans Homes were founded for Civil War veterans in the late 1800’s and have served veterans for over 100 years; and

WHEREAS, under the Nevada Revised Statutes, Title 37, Chapter 417, the State of Nevada operates a State Veterans Home in Boulder City, Nevada; and

WHEREAS, there are currently 172 veterans and their spouses who receive skilled nursing care from dedicated employees at the Nevada State Veterans Home – Boulder City; and

WHEREAS, these employees are mindful of their mission of "Caring for America’s Heroes," as evidenced by the consistent high quality of care they administer to America’s heroes who reside in the home;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JIM GIBBONS, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the week of May 11, 2008, Nevada State Veterans Home Week, in honor of

ALL RESIDENTS AND STAFF AT THE
NEVADA STATE VETERANS HOME – BOULDER CITY
