WHEREAS, The Salvation Army has provided humanitarian relief and spiritual guidance since its founding in Great Britain in 1865; and

WHEREAS, The Salvation Army touches the lives of over 2,000 Southern Nevadans every day and in the United States alone over 31 million are assisted annually; and

WHEREAS, The Salvation Army has the first U. S. residential gambling treatment program in Las Vegas; and

WHEREAS, some of the best-known services that The Salvation Army provides are meeting the needs of the homeless, food for the hungry and self-sufficiency for the disabled; and

WHEREAS, The Salvation Army is to be commended for its mission of continued dedication in helping the physical and spiritual needs of people across our Nation and our citizens should express their appreciation for the Salvation Army’s good works and to follow their example of serving a cause greater than themselves;
