WHEREAS, Martin A. Ramirez has faithfully served the state of Nevada for 30+ years; and

WHEREAS, Martin A. Ramirez’s career as a public servant in the State of Nevada began in the Employment Security Department as an Account Clerk, culminating within the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation where he served as Chief Financial Officer and then as Deputy Director; finally until his retirement Martin served in these two critical roles simultaneously, and successfully led the department in achieving its mission; and

WHEREAS, Martin A. Ramirez has spent the majority of his years in public service honing his skills in accounting and finance to ensure sound stewardship of the public funds entrusted to his care; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada has reaped the benefits of Martin’s judicious management of programs entrusted to his leadership; and

WHEREAS, Martin A. Ramirez has earned the respect of federal and state executives and colleagues due to his extensive knowledge of the various programs and budgets in his charge; and

WHEREAS, on behalf of the citizens of the State of Nevada, we would like to thank and commend Martin A. Ramirez for his 30+ years of devoted and honorable service, his contributions to the Silver State, and we wish him continued success in all of his future endeavors; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JIM GIBBONS, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim May 16, 2008, as a day in honor of
