WHEREAS, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America has created a 10-day public awareness campaign named "Destination Joy" to inspire Americans to use their much-needed talents and resources to help grant the wishes of children who are diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions; and.

WHEREAS, with the help of thousands of generous volunteers, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America has granted more than 161,000 wishes to these courageous children nationwide since its inception in 1980; these special volunteers and donors have allowed a child to experience the power of a wish every 41 minutes; and

WHEREAS, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada has granted more than 870 local wishes since its founding in 1996; and

WHEREAS, the altruistic dedication of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America remains a testament of joy and triumph for wish kids in our community; and

WHEREAS, the goal of Destination Joy is to generate awareness to Southern Nevada residents on various ways they can help enrich the human experience through the hope and joy that granting wishes brings to children;.
