WHEREAS, Susan Combs, has served the people of the Silver State for nearly 4 decades, beginning August 11, 1969; and

WHEREAS, she has served the people of Nevada by working tirelessly and steadfastly for four different agencies including the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Attorney General’s Office, the Governor’s Office, and the Nevada Commission on Economic Development; and

WHEREAS, after her tenure with Gaming and the Attorney General’s Office, she served with then Governor Richard Bryan (U.S. Senator, Retired) during the time Governor Bryan created the Nevada Commission on Economic Development; and

WHEREAS, after transferring to the Nevada Commission on Economic Development on October 26, 1988 she displayed exceptional commitment and dedication to the economic development of the state, working selflessly and energetically in furtherance of the cause of the diversification and expansion of the state’s economy; and

WHEREAS, Susan Combs was instrumental in developing and implementing innovative programs designed to modernize and streamline many different procedures not only within the agency but also with the local and regional development authorities throughout Nevada, including process and management systems for the incentive programs developed by the legislature; and

WHEREAS, her colleagues from all the agencies, but especially the Commission on Economic Development have benefited from her wisdom and assistance; and

WHEREAS, on behalf of all citizens of Nevada, we would like to thank and commend Susan Combs for her more than 38 years of devoted and honorable service to our Silver State and wish her continued success in all of her future endeavors;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JIM GIBBONS, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim June 14, 2008, as a day in honor of
