WHEREAS, Community Health Centers serve the uninsured, underinsured, and high-risk residents of communities throughout our State; and

WHEREAS, Nevada’s two Federally-Qualified Community Health Centers, Nevada Health Centers, Inc. and Health Access Washoe County (HAWC), and Tribal Health Centers are joined by other safety net providers and organizations which support the mission of community health centers; and

WHEREAS, Community Health Centers provide continuous high quality primary and preventive care that reduces the risk of new health problems and lowers the overall cost of health care; and

WHEREAS, Community Health Centers are reaching more people by removing geographic, language, cultural, and financial barriers for patients with unmet needs who do not have a usual source of health care;

WHEREAS, there is a continuing need to support the contribution of Community Health Centers throughout the State as part of Nevada’s commitment to high quality, cost-effective, accessible health care;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JIM GIBBONS, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim August 10 – 16, 2008 as
