WHEREAS, Betty Easton flew in the face of convention by returning to school in her forties to acquire a Bachelors in Social Work, followed by a Masters in Counseling and Guidance, thereby becoming famous as the face of a new trend in higher education; and WHEREAS, for the past 30 years, Betty Easton has dutifully, professionally, and ethically performed her duties as a Licensed Social Worker for the Division of Mental Health and Developmental Services’ Intermediate Care Facility and the Community Services program of Sierra Regional Center; and WHEREAS, Betty Easton has encouraged and worked with staff to develop humane and high quality progressive programs that have increased community living choices for people with disabilities; and WHEREAS, Betty Easton has exemplified the highest standards of sharing with and support for her colleagues at Sierra Regional Center and other agencies of the Division through her amiable demeanor, sense of humor, knowledge, skill, and accessibility; and WHEREAS, even though she will be sorely missed by her colleagues and the people she has supported, we wish Betty Easton the very best as she enters retirement to further devote herself to her family, travel, education, and her passion for gardening; NOW, THEREFORE, I, JIM GIBBONS, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim August 29, 2008, as a day in honor of
