WHEREAS, “Constitution Day” is traditionally observed in the State of Nevada to commemorate the significance of the United States Constitution in preserving the individual freedoms, liberties, and common welfare of the people who live in this country; and WHEREAS, the Constitution of the United States of America, the guardian of our liberties, embodies the principles of limited government in a Republic dedicated to rule by law; and WHEREAS, September 17th, 2008, marks the two hundred and twenty first anniversary of the framing of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention; and WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to this magnificent document and its memorable anniversary, and to the patriotic celebrations which will commemorate it; and WHEREAS, in remembrance of the signing of the Constitution of the United Stats of America and in recognition of the Americans who strive to uphold the duties and responsibilities of the citizenship, and Congress, by joint resolution designated September 17, 2008 as “Constitution Day”; NOW, THEREFORE, I, JIM GIBBONS, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim September 17, 2008, as CONSTITUTION DAY |
