WHEREAS, teachers throughout our nation and the Association for Childhood Education International actively work to promote the inherent rights, education, and well-being of all children; and

WHEREAS, as a crucial part of children’s educational experiences, teachers work side by side with parents and administrators every day to provide the best learning environments for their students; and

WHEREAS, teachers use their skills to help ensure that our children have the resources necessary to become productive citizens and future leaders; and

WHEREAS, the 2008 observance of the “Week of the Classroom Teacher” provides a unique opportunity for citizens throughout Nevada to honor our teachers for their dedication to upholding the highest standards of educational excellence and for their commitment to ensuring that our young people achieve their maximum potential; and

WHEREAS, all citizens of the Silver State are urged to honor teachers throughout the State for their significant contributions to our children’s futures;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JIM GIBBONS, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim October 5-11, 2008, as
