WHEREAS, General Kirkland graduated from the Academy of Military Science as a distinguished graduate and was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in November of 1986 and assigned as the Executive Officer to the 192nd Reconnaissance Squadron, General Kirkland then went on to serve as the 152nd Communications Flight Commander; and    

WHEREAS, General Kirkland received a Joint Service Commendation Medal for her work as a public affairs representative to the Joint Staff Crisis Action Team; she was appointed in 2000 as Air Guard Chief of Staff to the Adjutant General and was subsequently selected as Joint Chief of Staff for the newly organized Joint Force Headquarters; and 

WHEREAS, in 2005, General Kirkland was appointed Adjutant General of the Nevada National Guard; and

WHEREAS, General Kirkland has consistently performed without compromise, with devotion and in accordance with the highest standards of her profession and with great commitment, dedication and respect for those she served; and

WHEREAS, as Governor of the State of Nevada, it is a pleasure to extend my congratulations to General Cynthia Kirkland for her 27 years of honorable service with the Nevada National Guard;
