WHEREAS, David W. Clifton graduated with a degree in Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1980 and discovered a passion for the law; and WHEREAS, David W. Clifton graduated from the McGeorge School of Law and passed the Nevada Bar Examination in 1983 and was appointed as a Deputy District Attorney in Carson City, Nevada by William Maddox; and WHEREAS, David W. Clifton was appointed as a Deputy District Attorney by Mills B. Lane in 1986, promoted to Chief Criminal Deputy District Attorney by Dorothy Nash Holmes in 1993 and has held that position of trust under the appointment of Dick Gammick since 1994; and WHEREAS, David W. Clifton has shown a willingness to prosecute difficult criminal cases to successful resolution, including arson cases; and WHEREAS, David W. Clifton has donated his time and knowledge to the training of Fire-Arson Investigators, Law Enforcement Officers and Criminal Investigators throughout the State and Region; and WHEREAS, David W. Clifton has prosecuted difficult homicide cases such as the Peter Bergna Slide Mountain Murder case, the Rice child abuse death case, the Brandon Allan murder case, and the Brake and Miller mother-son murder case; and WHEREAS, on behalf of the citizens of the State of Nevada, we would like to thank and commend David W. Clifton for his many years of devoted and honorable service to our Silver State and wish him continued success in all of his future endeavors; NOW, THEREFORE, I, JIM GIBBONS, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim July 25, 2009, as a day in honor of DAVID W.
