Governor-elect Jim
Gibbons today announced that the leaders of four major divisions
of Nevada’s government have agreed to stay on the job as members
of Gibbons’ cabinet. They are Allen Biaggi, Director of the
Department of Conservation and Natural Resources; Andrew
Clinger, Director of the Department of Administration; Dino
DiCianno, Executive Director of the Department of Taxation; and
Mike Willden, Director of the Department of Health and Human
Services.
“These four
state government experts have already proven their effectiveness
in and commitment to public service during the Guinn
administration,” Gibbons said. “I am very proud to
have them and their experience on my team, and I am excited
about what we can accomplish together for the entire state of
Nevada.”
“I love
helping Nevadans; it’s been my life for 33 years,” said
Health and Human Services Director Willden. “I’m honored
that the Governor-elect would see fit to keep me on as part of
his administration, and I look forward to continuing to improve
services to the people of Nevada.”
Taxation Director
Dino DiCianno echoed the honor of enjoying the confidence of the
next governor, and explained its importance to Nevada’s
citizens. “Taxpayers need to have a comfort level with
respect to the fairness, consistency and predictability of the
administration of taxes in this state,” he said. “We always try
to improve our services, but the main benefit of keeping our
leadership is assuring Nevadans of a seamless transition from
one governor’s administration to the next.”
“I look
forward to working in Governor-elect Gibbons’ administration,”
remarked Department of Conservation and Natural
Resources Director Allen Biaggi. “I greatly appreciate the
opportunity. I’m sure we will continue to move forward in the
best interest of the people and the natural resources of
Nevada.”
Department of
Administration Director Andrew Clinger added: “I look
forward to working with Governor-elect Gibbons to improve
efficiency in state government so Nevadans can continue to enjoy
our low tax rate in the future.”
The process of
reviewing state government is ongoing for Governor-elect Gibbons
and his staff. Chief of Staff Mike Dayton says today’s release
of names does not preclude the retention of other cabinet-level
officials and should not create undue concern for anyone in
state government.
Governor-elect
Gibbons also named two key members of his staff today. James
Campos, former Minority Coalitions Outreach Coordinator for the
Gibbons campaign and the Las Vegas Hispanic Chamber of
Commerce’s Professional of the Year, will serve as Director of
the governor’s office in Las Vegas. Judith Ray, currently
Southern Nevada Field Director of Gibbons’ congressional office
and a 16-year veteran of public service, will become Director of
Constituent Services. She will join Campos in the southern
Nevada office.
