Carson City, NV –
Governor Jim Gibbons today appointed James Campos Commissioner
of the Nevada Consumer Affairs Division. The Consumer Affairs
Division was established in 1971 as a division of the Department
of Business and Industry and serves to protect those who live
in, work in, and visit the state from deceptive trade
practices.
“James Campos is a well respected Hispanic community leader who
has been a dedicated member of both my campaign and executive
staff. I have appreciated James’ commitment to addressing the
needs of our state’s business community and its consumers, and I
am confident that he will maintain this same commitment as
Commissioner of the Consumer Affairs Division,” said Governor
Gibbons. “Nevada continues to attract new businesses each year,
and as our state continues to grow we provide oversight and
regulation to protect our consumers from fraud and abuse. While
we welcome new growth and development in our state, it is the
role of the Commissioner to ensure that our trusting consumers
are protected.”
“I
am honored by this appointment, which will allow me to utilize
my background in both business and community relations. I am
eager to continue serving the Governor as Commissioner of this
very important agency. Nevada’s businesses climate is vibrant
and continues to grow along with our state; however, consumer
protection is critical to ensure that Nevada’s business
community remains vibrant for years to come,” said Campos.
James Campos has served in both the public and private sectors,
working in such industries as publishing, telecommunications,
strategic business consulting, political campaigns and as an
adjunct professor. His business background gives him expertise
in marketing, management and strategic analysis and
implementation.
In 2006 Campos was named Professional of the Year
by the Las Vegas Latin Chamber of Commerce. He’s also been
recognized by the White House as a national Hispanic leader.
Campos
holds Master of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the
University
of Maryland, a Master of Business Administration from the
University of Glasgow, Scotland, and a post-graduate business
certificate from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. He
was president of the
University
of Glasgow’s MBA Society. He has taught organizational
