Carson City, NV--
Governor Jim Gibbons today reappointed Terry Johnson as director
of the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and
Rehabilitation (DETR). Johnson has served as director for more
than a year, overseeing a department of 750 employees and a
budget of $150 million.
“Nevada’s economy is strong because qualified workers and
businesses work with each other,” said Governor Gibbons.
“Director Johnson will continue to boost our workforce and be
sure it serves the needs of business.”
“It’s an honor and a privilege to continue to serve the people
of Nevada and to serve Governor Gibbons,”
replied Johnson. “I’m looking forward to helping the
governor assure that Nevada workers can meet the challenges of
tomorrow’s marketplace. We will see to it that industry
continues to find what it needs—a skilled and willing
workforce—in Nevada.”
Johnson worked in management in the
private sector before beginning his work for the state in 1996
as Assistant Business Advocate in the Department of Business and
Industry. Since then, he has served as state labor commissioner
and as deputy director for DETR before being named director in
2005.
