Governor Jim Gibbons today named Todd Rich Nevada’s new Director
of the Department of Personnel. He succeeds Jeanne Greene, who
resigned early this year.
“Todd Rich brings a wealth of experience in human resources to
state government from the private sector. From health care to
gaming to public utilities, he has managed people in a wide
variety of business environments. Bringing that expertise to
the Department of Personnel, he can create a higher level of
accountability for Nevada’s state government,”
said Governor Gibbons.
Rich recently served as practice administrator for OB-GYN
Associates in Reno, where he managed finance, marketing, human
resources and other administrative functions. He previously
served as human resources director for Washoe Health System (now
Renown) in Reno, where he managed more than 4,400 employees.
Before that, he was corporate human resources director for
Comcast Cable Communications, based in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, handling payroll and other HR functions for
approximately 21,000 employees. Rich has also served as senior
compensation and benefits analyst for International Game
Technology and total rewards analyst for Sierra Pacific
Resources.
Rich earned his business administration degree from the
University of Nevada, Reno in 1989. He is co-author of the book
Common Sense Communication, a collection of inspirational
quotes and guidelines intended to improve communication skills.
“It is an honor to be chosen by Governor Gibbons to work with
and for the great employees of the State of Nevada,”
said Rich. “It will be my objective help provide our
valued state employees what they need to do their jobs
efficiently and to ensure they have the ability to function in a
fair and consistent working environment. I also want to make
sure that our overall compensation structure and training
programs attract and retain the best employees in today’s
competitive job market.”
The Nevada Department of Personnel oversees recruiting,
classification and compensation of state employees. It
investigates harassment claims and oversees employee development
and training.
Mark Anastas, who served as Interim Director, has resumed his
duties as chief personnel manager.
