Carson City, NV-- Today, Governor Jim Gibbons announced the
appointment of Mendy K. Elliott as the Director of the
Department of Business and Industry (B&I). Elliott will replace
outgoing director Sydney Wickliffe.
“Continuing to grow Nevada’s economy is one of my highest
priorities, which is why I appointed Mendy Elliott to serve as
Director of the Department of Business and Industry. As one of
Nevada’s most respected and accomplished businesswomen, I am
confident that her expertise and proven leadership will serve
Nevadans well,” said Governor Gibbons.
Elliott’s accomplished 30-year career in the financial services
industry includes an impressive 24-year tenure with Wells Fargo,
where she most recently served as senior vice president and
manager of the company’s store-based Private Banking team in
Nevada. Prior to being named senior vice president, Elliott was
head of Wells Fargo’s Nevada Community and Government Relations
Department, where she oversaw the bank’s government relations
program and served as the primary liaison with the Nevada State
Legislature and the Nevada system of Higher Education.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the people
of this great state and I look forward to partnering with the
business community and legislators to ensure our business
climate remains vibrant and our economy remains one of the
strongest in the nation,” said Mendy Elliott.
“Beyond maintaining our strong economy and job creation, it is
also critical that we work together to foster new economic
growth and development for Nevada’s future prosperity.”
In addition to her experience in the financial industry, Elliott
also served on the Reno Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority
in an appointed position as Chairman of the Board and Financial
Chairman.
