GOVERNOR NAMES NEW GAMING COMMISSIONER
Dr. Tony Alamo to join Nevada Gaming Commission
 
 

Carson City— Governor Jim Gibbons is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Tony Alamo to the Nevada Gaming Commission. Dr. Alamo will replace Dr. Ray Rawson on the Commission.

“The Nevada Gaming Commission plays such a vital role in our largest industry”, Gibbons said, “I am pleased Dr. Alamo has accepted the position and I am certain Nevada will benefit from his business experience and knowledge.”

The Nevada Gaming Commission works in conjunction with the State Gaming Control Board to regulate the gaming industry in the State of Nevada and is the ultimate authority on licensing matters.

“I am filled with pride to once again serve the State and I am pleased that Governor Gibbons possesses the confidence in my ability to contribute to the Nevada Gaming Commission,” Dr. Alamo said, “I will work hard to succeed and serve the people of Nevada.”

Nevada’s gaming regulation organizations are the most respected in the world and Alamo’s addition to the Nevada Gaming Commission will enhance its integrity.

Dr. Tony Alamo is 43-years-old, is a life-long Nevada resident, and is bilingual. He is the son of Cuban parents and has been a successful physician since 1991. He resides in Green Valley in Southern Nevada with his wife Karen and their 9-year-old son Anthony Michael.

This is not Dr. Alamo’s first endeavor into public service for the State of Nevada. He served on the Nevada State Athletic Commission from 2001 until 2007.

Aside from Dr. Alamo’s service as a member of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Dr. Alamo has served as Chief of Staff at Sunrise Hospital, and as Chair of the Medical Advisory Board for the Nevada Athletic Commission,

Dr. Alamo is particularly proud a Medal of Unit Valor award he received in August, 2006 from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Dr. Alamo was the first civilian to receive such an award.
